Thank you to restaurants

Dear Restaurateur,

This year, as your businesses were forced to shutter overnight and adapt to new operational norms on the fly, restaurants like yours did what they always do: when life got tough, you worked harder. You revamped your terraces and pavement tables so that guests could dine outdoors. You took the precautions needed to ensure a safe and healthy environment. And you reimagined your menus for takeaway and delivery—all the while, reminding us all why we love restaurants so much.

You inspire us now more than ever with your creativity and resilience. Your determination to persevere despite the challenges faced by your team and bottom line lends meaning to what we do. At OpenTable, we could not be more proud of our incredible restaurant partners and optimistic that next year will hold more favourable tidings. With the vaccine on the horizon, we will gather again in your dining rooms.

Like you, our teams have dug in and upheld a similar never-quit, show-must-go-on, customer-first ethos, evolving and iterating what we do as the times demand. As we’ve seen with each and every city that reopens, the minute your tables are waiting, covers come back, as proven by the 75 million free covers we drove through our Open Door relief pricing program this year. Just as you’ve been there for us, we will continue to be there for you by waiving subscription fees through March 2021.

As this year proved, hospitality is never closed for business—and we’ll continue to be here to help with the products, features and support you can rely on to emerge from a difficult time stronger, wiser, and ready to take on 2021.

From all of us at OpenTable, here’s to the future and warmest wishes during this unprecedented holiday season.
