What consumers want from tech during the dining experience

In 2015 and 2017 we conducted surveys in the UK, as well as the US and Germany, to get consumers’ honest thoughts and input on what they want from tech during the dining experience.

The good news: over 1,100 diners across the UK have told us exactly what they like and dislike about technology use during their dining experience.

Our survey illuminates the growing role that technology plays in powering great dining experiences, and calls out some compelling opportunities for restaurateurs.

Key trends highlighted by the survey results covered in this e-book:

  1. Above all, British diners depend on technology for restaurant discovery. Make sure you are in the mix.
  2. It has never been more vital to put your best digital foot forward so that your next crop of diners can find you, browse your menu, visualise your property, read your reviews and include you in their consideration set. For example, 18% in 2017 and 21% in 2015 say they ‘always’ or ‘frequently’ use their phones to research and decide what to order.
  3. To continue delighting your diners, keep your finger on the pulse of dining technology in a way that fits your concept.

So, how are guests’ end-to-end dining experiences impacted by technology and what does that mean for you as a restaurateur?
